Today we went to library for checkout and had a "read in" day!  Students did great & seemed to enjoy the time!  No Homework!

Social Studies -
Today we wrapped up population density with a demonstration and read from our book.  No Homework!

** Tomorrow morning we will be participating in Fuel Up to Play 60 events as a group & then doing an activity that will give the students input on some school improvement for next school year!!**

Have a wonderful, safe, fun Spring Break!!  See you in April! :)

Math:  Today we quizzed over independent and dependent variables.  We also began a Crime Scene Investigation Puzzle about the crime of stealing Easter eggs.  This is a skill review.  Due end of class Thursday.

Social Studies: We watched CNN10, read the rest of Chapter 2 in Chu Ju's House, and talked about population density. No homework!

Math:  Today we practiced with independent and dependent variables.  Finish two practice problems to review for the quiz.  We will be quizzing Tuesday over writing and solving equations and Wednesday for Independent/Dependent variables.

Math:  Today we continued our learning about Independent and Dependent Variables.  Practice 7.4 should have been completed in class.  No other HW.  Quizzes next week over writing and solving equations and Independent & Dependent Variables.

SS:  Today we worked on our population reading and questions.  No HW

**TOMORROW IS OUR TRIP TO THE SAUGATUCK FILM FESTIVAL.  Your child should have brought a note home explaining this early last week.  We will be back by 10:00 am.  No snacks or water on the trip.  No chaperones needed.  We should have a wonderful time.  Remind your child of the behavior we expect from our Hawkeyes!

Science: Today the kids continued with their cup creations. The goal is to finish their cups in class tomorrow.

Social Studies: We watched parts of CNN10 and talked about the idea of overpopulation.

Today we discussed the story & the story elements from what the students read yesterday.  Then, we "road mapped" our next unit - we will cover genre, story elements, dialogue, & figurative language as we prepare to do a narrative (story) writing.  Finally, we reviewed all of the names of different genres & students were introduced to a presentation project we will begin tomorrow.  No Homework!

Social Studies -
Today we read the next chapter in Chu Ju's House, we shared our village of 100 collages, and we started a book activity to introduce some important population vocabulary.  No Homework!

SS:  Today we continued working with some readings and questions about population.  NO HW

Math:  Finish the sheets where you have to write the story problem to match the equation (and the three remaining are simply write the equation and solve).  Due tomorrow.

Math:  Finish the "Ruben and Tanner" questions, "Helga" questions, and 7.2 Enrichment questions for tomorrow.

Math:  We are continuing our practice for solving equations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  This is a tough skill for some of the kiddos.  There is no real magic trick to doing them, it just takes practice.  We will continue practicing next week.  No homework this weekend.  Have some fun!

SS:  Today we finished our drawings for village of 100.  No HW just have some fun this weekend instead.

Math:  Today we worked on writing equations using verbal models.  Practice 7.1 A & B are due tomorrow.  You must try each problem before class tomorrow!  This can be difficult, but I expect effort to be put forth as we will be solving equations starting tomorrow.

SS:  Today we finished out study of natural disasters.  We have a little writing to complete in class.  NO HW

Today we worked on our Post On Demand Essay.   Students worked on finishing up writing & then worked to complete a comparison worksheet that compares their pre & post essay -- talk about showing learning!!  No Homework!

Social Studies -
Today we finished and discussed an article that compared the Haiti and Chile earthquakes.  Our focus was on the vulnerability to disaster of each country when similar hazards occur.  Then, we watched a couple of video clips to wrap up this discussion.  No Homework!

Today we finish discussing terms like susceptibility and vulnerability and we looked at maps of different countries around the world.  We are doing some discussing about what countries are at a higher or lower risk of suffering disaster due to the impact of a natural hazard.  No Homework!

Math:  Today we did "Hands On Algebra" to introduce solving equations.  Homework for tomorrow is to complete the rates/ratios review sheet.
