Young

Math:  We began working through a packet of word problems.  Remember, when in doubt, draw it out!!!  Calculators are OK.  Not homework but they may work on it.  It will be due Tuesday.
They may also work on their polyhedra which must be done by Friday, May 11.

SS:  We wrapped up our discussion of Urbanization and Mega Cities today!  Did you know that a Mega City holds over 10 million people?  Wow!  No HW

English -
Today we went to library to return, renew, & checkout books as needed.  Then, we returned to the classroom & worked on our stories.  Keep writing!  No HW, unless you feel you want/need to work on story some at home.

Social Studies -
Today we read another couple of chapters in Refugee.  Then, students did the cartoon analysis that we did not get to yesterday on the blog.  No Homework!

Young

Math:  Today we worked on finding area.  Finish 8.4 for Friday!  Work on your polyhedra.  Would like all polyhedra finished by May 10 (Next Thursday).

SS:  We will finish Urbanization today and tomorrow.  Next week we will begin looking at globalization and what makes an issue a global issue.  No HW

MRS. YOUNG'S CLASS WILL BE SWIMMING NEXT WEEK.  A NOTE WENT HOME EARLIER THIS WEEK.  STUDENTS NEED A SWIMSUIT (APPROPRIATE FOR SCHOOL), TOWEL AND GOGGLES ARE RECOMMENDED BUT NOT REQUIRED.

Math:  Today we worked to finish our volume investigation.  Then we worked to complete our polyhedra.  Students could work on their polyhedra outside of class.

SS:  We had strong start today so we used our SS time for Math.  No SS HW.

English -
Today we discussed reminders of resources students have for incorporating dialogue and figurative language into our stories & then students had a good chunk of writing time.  No Homework unless you have not started writing!

Social Studies -
Today we continued in our book Refugee.  Then, students took a little time to share and hang up art drawings.  Finally, students did an activity where they analyzed cartoons for the meaning.  This will lead us to our discussions on urbanization.  No Homework!

Today we discussed resources to use to improve our word choice and descriptions.  Then, students worked on finishing up brainstorms and starting stories.  No Homework, unless your brainstorm is not finished! 

Social Studies -
Students worked on their art vocabulary drawings while I read aloud from our new book.  We are loving it!  No Homework!

Math:  Today we explored volume.  We also got our polyhedrons to work on.  Remember, Color, Cut, Crease, Construct!!  No homework but you can work on your polyhedrons if you like.
